Known to be incredible clean up crew members these snails do not have the same problem of being 'flipped over' that Astrea do. While Astrea are GREAT cleaners in their own right, the Trochus outmatches them in longevity by being able to upright themselves. The Tiger Turbo Snail, also known as the Trochus or Banded Snail, is a species of sea snail popular in the saltwater aquarium hobby due to it's appetite for nuisance algaes. Tiger Turbo Snails are great clean up crew for green hair algae, some cyano and even diatoms and will stay most of the time on the rockwork searching for food. Invertebrates can be more sensitive to parameter changes than fish or coral. High nitrate levels or sudden changes in pH or Salinity can be very harmful to inverts and may cause death. It is recommended to do a slow acclimation process when adding new inverts to your aquarium. |
