Cyphastrea are one of the main reef building species and are part of the Merulinidae Coral family. Most commonly found as an encrusting coral, they can be found in less common types as well. These corals have become extremely popular in the hobby for a variety of reasons, but overwhelming due to the success in aquaculturing a variety of color morphs showing this coral to be finely suited for reef aquariums.
