The Halloween Hermit Crab, also known as the stripped hermit crab or the orange-legged hermit crab, is well known for it's vibrant and distinct coloration.  They have bright orange and white bands on the legs with a red body. They are a great member to any clean up crew and are known for eating cyanobacteria and green hair algae as we as any leftover food in the aquarium.

They may have trouble righting themselves if accidentally flipped over.   If you see them on their "backs", give them a flip and they should be good to go.

It is best to provide the Halloween Hermit Crab with empty conical shaped shells in case it grows to big for it's own.  They have been known to attack and kill snails for their shells.  We recommend keeping a few in the aquarium to keep the housing war to a minimum.

Invertebrates can be more sensitive to parameter changes than fish or coral.  High nitrate levels or sudden changes in pH or Salinity can be very harmful to inverts and may cause death.  It is recommended to do a slow acclimation process when adding new inverts to your aquarium.
